1 Item, 3 Ways: Elephant Shirt

The other day, Emma and I had our annual end of summer/fall shopping trip. My main goals were to pick up some fall beauty items and some things to wear to school. I came across this elephant shirt in Madewell, and was hesitant to buy it, but I ended up taking the plunge and getting it. I am trying to reboot my wardrobe into a more preppy style and thought this would fit right in.

Below, I've styled the shirt three different ways. The first two looks are more work-appropriate and either have pieces similar to things I own, or are things that I might purchase in the future. The third look is a more casual one.

Wear To Work

For this first look, I paired the shirt with burgundy cords. I think these are a great alternative to trousers, they come in a variety of colors, and they are still dressy enough for work. I added a matching statement necklace, chunky watch, and coordinating bracelet (the watch and arm candy are on my wishlist). I finished it off with a pair of neutral flats and a neutral pink lip. Overall, I think this a fun, work-appropriate outfit that is great for fall.

For the second look, I did something a little brighter. I paired the shirt with a bright, green pencil skirt for a pop of color. For jewelry I went with the chunky watch again and added an extra bangle for a little more bling. I love these nude flats and am hoping to pick them up soon. I think they'd look great paired with a pencil skirt or pants and since they are nude, they will literally go with everything. Lastly, I would wear a lighter pink lipstick to finish off the look. A nice thing about this outfit too is that it could easily be converted to a 'going out' look by swapping out the flats for some heels.

Casual Look

The last look, is definitely more casual. I could see myself wearing this on the weekends when I'm out running errands or something. I love mixing blue and brown tones, and I think the shirt would look great tucked into dark jeans worn with brown boots. For the weekend, I would want to keep my accessories on the simple side, so I'd probably stick to just a wrap bracelet and sunglasses. I added my lavender colored fossil bag for a subtle pop of color and Mac syrup lipstick again, just because I think this will be a fabulous fall color!
