This weekend, I am away on sort of a mini vacation. I am up in New York, visiting a relative for the long weekend and enjoying some time in the city and at the ball park! I thought this would be a good opportunity to show what I pack in my travel makeup bag. This is everything I am bringing (minus my toothbrush and toothpaste- I forgot to put them in) This may seem like a lot of stuff for a long weekend, but I normally pack this much whether I am going away for 3 days or a full week.
1. Kate Spade Cosmetics Case: This bag holds all everything I need for my trips, including the matching clutch-size version of this bag. I used to put my entire makeup collection in here, but since I cleaned out my collection and created my mini-makeup station, this bag is now free for travel.
2. Face Stuff: When it comes to travel face and hair stuff, I tend to just bring whatever smaller-sized products I have available. I always bring face wipes. I try and find gentle skin face wipes, since ones that are too heavily perfumed cause me to break out. I usually go for the Simple Cleansing ones or the Yes To brand, but these Formula 10.06 Keep Me Clean face wipes were on sale. I like these a lot so far and they even came with a free mud mask! I am also bringing my Clean and Clear Morning Burst Cleanser, which has a nice light citrusy scent and leaves your skin feeling fresh! Finally, for moisturizer I am just bringing this little sample size of Proactiv's Green Tea Moisturizer, which again, is nice and light and doesn't make me break out.
3. Hair Stuff: As I said above, like my face stuff, I tend to just bring whatever sample sized shampoos and conditioners I have with me when I travel. For this trip, I brought my Green Tea Shampoo and Conditioner (I'm not quite sure of the brand name for these guys, but I can find it I will link it). I am also bringing a travel-sized hair brush and my Matrix Sleek Look Sealing Serum to smooth out my hair.
4. Body Stuff: For body wash I am bringing Dove's Deep Moisture Body Wash, to keep my skin clean and moisturized. I actually have just been refilling this bottle, rather than going out and buying a new travel sized one. I am bringing a sample size of Lush's Dream Cream for body lotion and my great-for-travel Lavanilla Vanilla Grapefruit Roller-Ball for perfume.
5. Deodorant: I think I must have tried every single kind of extra-strength deodorant under the sun. This combo is the only thing I've found that works for me. I use the green one at night before I go to bed and the blue one in the morning. I always make sure I have these guys packed, as nothing else will work for me.
6. Makeup Brushes: I tried to keep it simple when it came to makeup and brushes. I wanted to back only the essentials rather that bringing a billion brushes along. I decided to bring my Flirt! Total Flirt Eye Brush Kit. This is super old (I don't even think they make this anymore, so I found a well-review alternative) and in need of replacing, but still works well enough. It is tiny, great for travel and has an eyeshadow brush, eyeliner brush, eye crease brush and brow comb. I am also bringing my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for blending concealer and powder, as well as the Real Techniques Blush Brush. Real Techniques makes excellent face brushes and I can't rave about them enough! They are super soft, durable and affordable!
7. Makeup: I wanted very simple, no-fuss, heat-friendly makeup since we're going to be outside a lot during the trip. I am sticking to just concealer and face powder and avoiding heavy, full-foundation. I like this Revlon Concealer (similar) because I can conceal both spots and under my eyes, without having to bring two separate products. I also plan on using this as an eyeshadow primer. This Physicians Formula Powder provides enough coverage to even out my skin, is light enough that it won't melt off my face, and has SPF. The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is my go-to travel eyeshadow palette. It is the perfect size for travel and super versatile. You can create so many different looks with these 6 shadows and can even use them to fill in your brows. It also helps that the quality of Urban Decay eyeshadows are outstanding. They are super pigmented and easy to blend. For blush, I am going with my summer favorite, which I have talking about all the time on here, Milani's Baked Blush in 'Luminoso'. It just leaves your skin with the prettiest, healthy looking glow! Lastly I am bringing my mascara of the moment, which is Maybelline's 'The Falsies Flared' and this L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm in 'Caring Coral' to keep my lips moisturized, add a bit of color, and protect them from the sun.
What are your travel essentials?
