Since I am in full-on-ready-for-fall mode, I thought I would add onto my 5 favorite beauty items post, and share some of my favorite clothing items I like wearing in autumn. Most of these are fairly obvious fall-fashion essentials and things that I could not do without.
1. Chambray Shirt
Chambray Shirt: Madewell
I got this shirt last year, and I don't see how I got along before without it. Chambray shirts are so, so versatile and have become a wardrobe staple. They go with nearly everything (colored pants, denim-on-denim, pencil skirts, ect.) and you can dress them up or down. I like to wear mine with black jeans or dark-wash denim, either buttoned up or thrown over a t-shirt. This fall, I want to try more dressed-up chambray and figure out ways to wear it to work.
2. Sweaters
From Top to Bottom: J. Crew Factory, Ann Taylor LOFT (Similar),
This one seems like a no-brainer. Sweaters are an absolute must for cold weather. I love and own many different styles from chunky pullovers to lightweight cardigans. You can never have too many!
3. Leopard Print Shoes
Shoes: Target
I was on the hunt for a pair of leopard smoking flats for ages. I wanted a pair that was inexpensive because I wasn't sure how much I would wear them. I finally found these at Target and I couldn't be happier with them. I think that the smoking flats are a nice change from regular ballet flats and leopard print is a classic style for fall.
4. Skinny Pants
From top to bottom: American Eagle Jeggings, Thrifted Black Jeans (Similar), and J. Crew Factory Skinny Cords
Skinny jeans are a must for me, simply because they are much easier to tuck into boots. I also like wearing them with the ankle slightly rolled up and flats. My staple skinny pants are my dark-wash denim skinny jeans, black jeans, and a pair of neutral cords. I tend to go for darker wash denim or neutral colors to keep things simple.
5. Boots
When I am not wearing my leopard flats or other ballet flats, I am without a doubt wearing a pair of boots. How else would you crunch your way through a pile of fallen leaves and not get any in your shoes? These are all the boots that I own and I don't think I need much more than these 3 pairs. I have 2 casual (the brown ones) and one slightly dressier pair (the black ones).
6. Thick Scarf
Scarf: Kate Spade
I know this is technically more than 5 items, but I couldn't leave out scarves! This scarf was a birthday present from last year and I wear it all the time during the colder months. It is super thick and cozy. I also love the bow detail on the end.
