This past month has been rather busy. We wrapped up the end of the school year (which is always crazy) and I have been spending my summer vacation trying some new things and revisiting some old favorite summer activities.
We have a small garden out behind my house. Every year we grow tomatoes and zucchini. I especially love making stuffed zucchini flowers. Yum!
I also tried strawberry picking for the first time. I found a local farm that grows all different kinds of berries. I ended up making a delicious, slightly citrusy jam from these guys.
I have been babysitting and nannying quite a bit as well this past month. I have been doing my best to come up with fun ways, that don't include TV or video games, of keeping the kids entertained. This has led to numerous trips to the pool and the park. The boys were fascinated by these little leaves and weeds that were poking up through the wood chips. We also went for froyo one day. Yum!
During the final weekend of june, I went to a friends house for a mini "staycation weekend". While we were out, we passed by this big pink truck and decided to stop and check it out. Apparently, Barbie is in the process of moving and is traveling all across american looking for a new home. There were different tents and Barbie-themed activities set up. It was very cute!
Lastly, we visited a local state park during our 'staycation' and tried stand up paddle boarding. It was a lot more fun than I expected, although towards the end of the day it turned into sit down paddle boarding. It was also a great workout and you certainly can't deny the view! The lake was gorgeous!
