Monthly Favorites: February 2014

It's the end of the month, which means it's time to break down my favorite style, beauty, and just random favorites from February!

Style:
After looking back through my outfit of the day posts on instagram, my most worn items, hands down, are my Leopard Tuxedo Flats from Target and my Michael Kors Watch. I tend to dress on the more feminine, preppy side and I like that these accessories add a slightly masculine element to my outfits. I also like that these can by dressed up for work or a night out or they can be worn more casually on the weekend.

Beauty:
I have a pretty wide range of beauty favorites this month: my trusty, ol' reliable Naked 2 Palette, a rediscovered moisturizer, and some new dry shampoo and shower gel.

It's no secret that I love the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I tend to swap back and forth between them, depending on my mood. I have been switching back and forth between using the shades Half Baked (far left) and Suspect (far right). As always, I like to keep things pretty simple: I apply one shade all over the lid with my Mac 217, blend, add a few lashings of mascara and I'm out the door!

I recently picked up a small size of The Olive Branch Shower Gel from Lush. I had tried a sample of this before, absolutely loved the smell, and decided to finally try out a bigger size. I love the warm, slightly citrusey scent and that it is very moisturizing on my dry skin. Speaking of dry skin, my face has been looking quite dull and red all winter from using face wash for my acne-prone skin. I decided to go back to using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 (long enough title?). I used to use this in college and forgot how fresh and glowy it makes your skin look. It's oil-free, but still hydrating and doesn't cause me to break out, which is always a plus! My final item is the highly-reviewed Batiste Dry Shampoo. One of the best dry shampoos I've ever used! It makes your hair feel like it was just washed and it smells wonderful. I have the blush scent and would be willing to try many of the other scents they offer after I finish this one up.

Random:
I recently went to see The Lego Movie and it was, in a word, awesome. One of the best movies I've seen in some time: it was slightly sentimental and genuinely funny. If you have kids, I highly recommend taking them to see it!

Upon deciding to re-vamp my blog, I did a little research into photo editing. I have been playing around with using things like photoshop and instagram, when I came across an app called VSCOcam. I have been using this to edit some of my photos and I love how easy it is to just press a button and get the filter effect I want. It takes much less time than trying to balance everything in photoshop and it doesn't add too much filter or heaviness like instagram does.

Finally, this song has been stuck in my head for the last few weeks. It is nothing creative or earth-shattering by any means, but damn if it isn't catchy!

What were your February favorites?
