Last month, I did a post with 3 different looks for 3 different summer activities. Emma left me a comment with some suggestions for more activity-themed outfits. Since I didn't have a post planned for this weekend, I decided to come up with some more fun summer-inspired looks.
1. Hiking
I am not much of a hiker, although I do occasionally enjoy walking nature trails when it is not too unbearably hot. I tried to choose items I thought/knew I would want if I went on a serious summer hike. A plaid shirt would be light and breezy in the summer heat, but still cover your arms to protect your from bugs and the sun. I also think it just has that classic camper-hiker look. These rolled denim shorts looked loose and comfy and will also keep you from overheating. Even though it will be hot, I felt like hiking boots were a must. A large backpack will make it easy to carry everything you need for your hike, including a water bottle, lip balm with spf, and sunglasses. Lastly, a braided up-do, like the one above, is cute but will also help keep your hair out of your face and off your neck.
2. A Drive-In Movie
I have wanted to go to a drive-in movie theatre for a long time now. I just think it would be a nice alternative to the regular theatre. Unfortunately, there is not one close to my house. If I were to go, I would probably opt for something comfy like this outfit. I would want to be comfortable if I was going to be sitting in my car for a good bit of time. A basic slouchy tee and comfy shorts are good summer staples and perfect for this occasion. I would also bring a pullover sweatshirt, perfect for if it gets chillier as the sun goes down. These espadrilles are a fun alternative to ballet flats and ad a pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. Lastly, I found these cute movie-themed items while browsing the kate spade website. I thought this popcorn tote and clapperboard pendant would be cute, occasion-appropriate accessories.
3. Amusement Park
Amusement Park by kadunnin featuring keds shoes
I absolutely adore going to amusement parks. It is probably one of my favorite summer activities. I love the adrenaline rush you get from the rides! For this outfit, I chose a chambray shirt, I liked that you could roll up the sleeves if it got too hot, and bright, summery, yellow shorts for a pop of color. Since you tend to do a lot of walking at theme parks, I thought canvas shoes would be the best option. They are flat, comfortable, will allow your feet to breathe, and you also don't have to worry about them flying off your feet on rides. A small, neutral messenger bag can hold all your park essentials, without being to cumbersome to carry around. I love these lip butters for light, easy makeup days and I know I wouldn't want to wear a ton of makeup to a theme park. Lastly, make sure to wear sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the sun!
