With the colder weather finally starting to sink in, my skin is really beginning to suffer. My lips in particular are getting pretty dry and cracked. I have tried exfoliating with a toothbrush and using lip balms and chapsticks, but nothing seemed to help. Finally, I decided to try a lip scrub. I went to lush last weekend and of course, they were all gone. So rather than make another trip up there or spend money ordering one online, I decided to make my own. I hunted around on pinterest (where I find almost all my DIY and cooking type things) and found this recipe from The Soap Dish. It was very simple and I knew I already had all the ingredients on hand, so I decided to give it a try.
Here's what you'll need:
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons Honey
- Small Bowl
- Airtight container
Easy right?
In a small bowl, add two tablespoons of brown sugar.
Next, add one tablespoon of olive oil.
Then add one and a half tablespoons of honey. Mix all your ingredients together.
Store your scrub in an airtight container.
To use, simply scrub onto your lips with your finger. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then gently exfoliate using your finger and rinse off with lukewarm water. You could also use a wet washcloth to exfoliate/wipe off the scrub at the same time. I recommend using this before bedtime and before you apply lipstick.
